The Detroit Red Wings are looking to get their third straight win in a row as they take on the Minnesota Wild in their Sunday matinee matchup. They’ll look to answer the Call of the Wild and continue a stretch of good play after a tough skid when the Red Wings went overseas to Sweden.
For the Detroit Red Wings, this is a very winnable game. The Wild are 5-9-4, down in the Central Division’s trenches. Detroit will be in a position to come out and take it to them. The Wild have a -17 goal differential in 2023-24.
Minnesota has lost six in a row, and the Red Wings must take advantage of this. If the Red Wings want to build momentum again, this is their chance. Capitalizing on their two wins this week is a big deal, especially after the team has had such a tough go over the last few weeks.
The Red Wings have to keep their offense rolling. They have kept things moving in the right direction lately, getting that offense rolling again. The Red Wings have a positive-11 goal differential. They are the only team in the Eastern Conference besides the Tampa Bay Lightning with 70 goals or more.
Detroit Red Wings need to steamroll Minnesota.
The Red Wings need to draw upon that offense but also need consistency between the pipes. Alex Lyon was announced as the starter, and he has been solid in his chances. Lyon has been able to step in and do a good job. He’s jumped into the back-up role, leaving James Reimer as the player on the outside looking in, between the crease.
Ville Husso was back in action on Friday after welcoming a child with his wife. It was good to see Husso get a win and a better performance than he has shown, but Lyon has also demonstrated he deserves playing time, so it’s good to see Newsy riding the hot hand with Lyon in net once again, especially if Husso’s durability may be an issue once again in 2023-24.
In summary, Detroit must come out, score first, and score often. If they play another complete game and get ahead early, they should have an easier time fending off the Wild, trusting Lyon between the pipes.
That being said, let’s talk through some of the game information.

That being said, I will go with the Red Wings on the Moneyline. On top of that, let’s take the over and bank on the offense showing up. Getting particular, maybe ride the hot hand and take a look at the odds for Daniel Sprong on an anytime goalscorer bet.
