The Detroit Red Wings got back on track with an overtime win over the New York Islanders earlier this week, but their luck ran out as they went for their second win in a row. The Florida Panthers came to town and came out on top against the Red Wings in their barn.
The Detroit Red Wings will now get a chance to redeem themselves against the Boston Bruins after a match-up last Saturday in the TD Garden did not go well for Detroit. They have their work cut out for themselves once again, especially if they want to avoid a quick fall through the standings.
Detroit may have grabbed two points against the Islanders, but their hot start has turned into a rough plateau, especially after going on a bit of a heater after dropping the opener. The Bruins, on the other hand, have yet to tally a loss in regulation.
Detroit has to come out strong. It’s a game where they have to start fast, maintain pressure, and capitalize on the scoring chances that they do get. They may not be often, but the Red Wings have to be able to convert and finish if they want any chance of hanging with the Bruins.
Detroit Red Wings looking to even things up vs. the Bruins in rematch
Last week’s 4-1 loss to Boston was not fun. Certainly not for a team looking to keep the good times rolling. Detroit has to come out and play better this week. They’re on home ice and can hang with Boston if they come out and show aggression from the get-go.
By “aggression,” I mean not just playing physically or fighting someone, but just playing with an edge. If Detroit can come out and control the play early, they’ll be able to try and maintain it, allowing them to go toe-to-toe with the Bruins in this rematch.

Odds: According to DraftKings, the Boston Bruins are the favorite with a -148 payout on the Moneyline. The Detroit Red Wings are +124 on the Moneyline while being the favorite on the Puck Line. Detroit has a -198 payout while being listed at +1.5 on the Puck Line. Boston is -1.5 at +164 on the Puck Line. The over/under is set at 6.0, with the over having a -112 payout and the under having a -108 payout.
Prediction: The Detroit Red Wings have seemingly cooled off from their early season heater. The team has hung in games at times but has things that they need to do better to see more success in the early parts of this season. For the Red Wings, this is not going to be an easy game. They have a big game ahead of them, with a really tough match-up. In this one, I like the over 6.0 goals, and I like Dylan Larkin‘s over for shots on goal if the line starts at 3.5.
