The Detroit Red Wings are off, but Alex DeBrincat is still quite busy. As things get underway for the 2024 NHL All-Star Game, DeBrincat is in Toronto for all the festivities. He was the lone Red Wings player who made the game this year.
While the rest of the Detroit Red Wings get a nine-day hiatus, DeBrincat is busy with all of the festivities, from the red carpet to the NHL All-Star Player Draft, to the NHL All-Star Skills competition, and NHL All-Star Game itself, he's a busy guy. But from the sounds of it, he's soaking it all in.
While his wife is back in Detroit as she and Alex await the birth of their expected child, DeBrincat did get to take his one-year-old son, Archie, to Toronto with him, along with parents David and Tracey DeBrincat. It truly was a family affair, as he got to walk the red carpet with Archie & his parents.
It's a family affair in terms of Red Wings fans well. With Red Wings fans across the border and likely some folks who may have made the trip to Toronto themselves, DeBrincat got a warm welcome. In an NHL.com article, he remarked on how nice it was to interact with fans on his walk through the red carpet.
Detroit Red Wings' Alex DeBrincat is soaking it all in.
This is DeBrincat's second trip to the All-Star Game after earning the honors when he was with the Chicago Blackhawks a few years back. He's certainly deserving, as are several Red Wings players, but it's too late now. DeBrincat has been exceptional for Detroit this year.
DeBrincat has come to Detroit and has been able to step in with this team to find his groove. He has 18 goals and 25 assists for 43 points over 50 games played for the Red Wings, and there's hope that he can turn things on once again heading into the second half.
However, the team has a nice break, and DeBrincat gets to participate in this year's NHL All-Star festivities. While he was not partaking in any NHL All-Star Skills Competition events, he will be on Justin Bieber's team for the game itself. He was selected by Bieber & Toronto Maple Leafs Auston Matthews & Morgan Rielly, who serve as the team's captain & co-captain, respectively.
The game will take place today at 3 PM (ET), as the four teams that were drafted earlier this week will now face off as part of the festivities. After that, DeBrincat will be headed back to Detroit.
