Detroit Red Wings forward Alex DeBrincat named to 2023-24 NHL All-Star Game

It may not be fresh and breaking news at this point, but the Detroit Red Wings will only have one representative at the 2023-24 NHL All-Star Game in Toronto. Alex DeBrincat was named a 2023-24 NHL All-Star, but after the fan voting concluded, out of the 44 representatives, just DeBrincat made it from Detroit.

This means Dylan Larkin did not make it after being the Detroit Red Wings representative for three of his eight seasons in the league. DeBrincat will head to Toronto as the team's solo representative. Unfortunately, with a revamped NHL All-Star Skills Competition on the horizon, fans will not get to see DeBrincat compete.

But, in terms of being deserving, DeBrincat is definitely that. He's been an enormous piece of the puzzle here in Detroit this season, and even if he has been quieter on the scoresheet as of late, he's a massive piece of this Red Wings offense. DeBrincat also managed to muster up a big-time goal against Dallas on Tuesday, getting back in the "G" column.

DeBrincat's an integral piece of this operation for the Red Wings and any hopes of a postseason run would certainly be fueled by a huge second half from DeBrincat. This comes as he's already having a breakout campaign, looking every bit of the part for Detroit. But we're here to discuss the 2023-24 NHL All-Star Game.

DeBrincat may be the lone representative for the Red Wings, but he deserves it. He's played in 47 games for Detroit, where he has 18 goals and 24 assists for 42 total points as a part of this Red Wings offense. He routinely finds ways to get it done, and it's been great for the Red Wings to have him night in and night out, being a threat to opposing teams.

He may not get to strut his stuff at NHL All-Star Weekend during the Skills Competition, but DeBrincat is full of skills. From precise passes, accurate shots, and nifty stick-handling, DeBrincat has really brought it all to Detroit. He's been great with the shot, finding the open twine for goals, and being accurate with the puck on his stick.

He's not only scoring either, as evident by his 24 assists. He's dishing the puck around when the time is right, setting others up. It's a true All-Star performance from the Michigan native. Teams are still yet to be decided, as is part of the NHL All-Star weekend festivities, but watch out for DeBrincat to show off some of his magic during the 2023-24 NHL All-Star Game.
