Moritz Seider may be averaging less than a half-point per game so far in 2025-26, but his production has recently trended north. Four of Seider's six points have come in the previous five games, and if that trajectory continues, he will be in for a career season.
You can also expect him to keep playing his game, which is one of the most physical in the league. Through 14 contests, he has 21 blocks and 29 hits, and his average time on ice is a career-high 25:24. This indicates that, if the Wings' blue line holds, Seider won't change his style of play any time soon, which may help transform Detroit into one of the most dangerous defensive teams in hockey.
This will become more apparent as the likes of Simon Edvinsson, Albert Johansson, and Axel Sandin-Pellikka gain more experience. Edvinsson and Johansson are already taking the necessary steps, and it won't be long until Sandin-Pellikka follows.
When this becomes the case, 55-60 points from Seider isn't unrealistic, especially if he can keep putting up four points every five games. And it's not like he's not getting the chances to pitch in for a primary or secondary assist, or even the occasional goal.
What Moritz Seider's possession metrics tell us
Here's where it gets interesting. At even strength, Seider's offensive zone starts are a low 40.1 percent. But his Corsi For percentage is a healthy 54.8 percent, which is by far a career high for Seider and, so far, the first time he has climbed over 50 percent in the metric.
His Corsi alone shows that the Wings are getting a good deal of shots off when he's on the ice. Throw in his 10.7 on-ice shooting percentage at even strength with 13 on-ice goals, and it shows the Wings are also scoring nearly a goal per game with Seider out there.
You also can't forget about the power play, which Seider routinely quarterbacks. He's one of the reasons why the Wings' power play is, once again, one of the better units in hockey, evidenced by his eight on-ice goals and 19.0 on-ice shooting percentage on the man advantage.
Mortiz Seider is on pace for yet another stellar season for the Detroit Red Wings
If anyone had any doubts about Moritz Seider heading into 2025-26 that his offensive output would be limited, he's already way ahead of them. He may only be on pace for between 35 and 36 points through 14 games, but Seider has since found his groove and has been putting up points left and right in recent outings.
With the Red Wings looking like one of the more high-octane teams when they care to, and with Seider's presence helping to maximize the number of scoring chances the Wings are getting, expect a half-point per game at the absolute least, but 0.75 or 0.8 per isn't out of the question.
As 2025-26 rolls on, Seider is going to keep playing a physical game, landing body checks on opponents and getting in front of shots. He will keep playing at least 25 minutes per contest, and could end up playing something close to 26 minutes. And he will keep producing offensively as the Wings look to put some space between them and talented teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning.
