The Detroit Red Wings are on a streak! They have won three in a row and are playing quite well right now. Why not add a big-name talent that could likely provide a nice boost to the lineup almost immediately?

For the Detroit Red Wings faithful, they are likely getting tired of the Patrick Kane content. Plus, some folks out there despise the thought of even signing Kane. But there’s one certain thing: Kane would undoubtedly increase the chances of the Red Wings winning night in and night out.

He’s yet to sign a deal, and he continues to work out and stay loose for when the decision time comes. The latest rumors state that Kane is slated to announce his decision in the coming days.

Doubling down on that, the decision has been narrowed down to two teams, and the Detroit Red Wings are one of them. The Florida Panthers are the other one, and I would never count out his hometown, Buffalo Sabres, but the report from Elliotte Friedman states it’s the Red Wings and Panthers.

Detroit Red Wings are still in Patrick Kane sweepstakes as decision time looms.

The decision will come soon, and while it feels like there will be a LeBron James-esque, “I’m taking my talents to South Beach” element to it, the hockey world will likely exude a breath of fresh air. The Kane rumors will be put to bed, and we can move on to overreacting about the trade deadline.

Jokes aside, the Red Wings are seriously in the hunt for Patrick Kane. Even though it’s been rumored and talked about since the summer, Kane becoming a Red Wing could be in the cards for the 2023-24 season.

Some may not be able to see the former Chicago Blackhawks player don a Red Wings jersey, but it’s becoming increasingly likely. Let’s not be silly here. Kane would have an instant connection to former teammate Alex DeBrincat.

The two played well together, and Kane stated he would be open to a reunion with DeBrincat. It would add some firepower to the Red Wings offense, which is already excelling in 2023-24.

Whether 35 years old or not, Kane is one of the perennial scorers and mesmerizing players of the last 15-plus years. I’m sure Steve Yzerman could work something out to keep the Red Wings moving in the right direction on a budget.
