The Detroit Red Wings are back in Detroit, ready to rock’n’roll with their home opener. Even though the Detroit Red Wings dropped game one of the 2023-24 campaign, they’ll be fresh and ready to go in front of their fans at Little Caesars Arena.

The Detroit Red Wings dropped game one to the Devils in a 4-3 loss with plenty to like and some things that need to be cleaned up. If game one was a good test, game two will be even better. The team will be taking on the perennial foe of the recent past, the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Red Wings are taking on one of the perennial contenders in the Atlantic, and someone that will prove to be a good test of what the Red Wings season could hold. There’s a lot to keep an eye on as the Red Wings get things going with their home opener.

Hopefully, there’s some good juju out there, and the Red Wings will be able to go out and get it done in their home barn in front of a crowd that has to be fired up to see the team play. After all, the Red Wings will likely take some leaps again this season.

Odds: According to DraftKings, the Detroit Red Wings are the underdog with a +105 payout on the Moneyline. Tampa Bay is the favorite with a -125 payout on the Moneyline. The Red Wings are the favorite on the Puck Line with a -218 payout at +1.5, and Tampa Bay carries a  +180 payout with a -1.5 spread on the Puck Line. The over/under is currently set at 6.5. The over is the favorite with a -120 payout, and the under has a +100 payout.

Prediction: The Red Wings came out and played a strong game to open things up against New Jersey. With a fast start, they tilted the ice their way but struggled to maintain things and keep the pressure on, letting New Jersey sneak back into things. I’d bet the Red Wings will put the pressure on early once again. Being all amped up for the home opener in front of their own fans, I’d expect the Red Wings to come out and play a sound game against Tampa Bay.

The worry comes with the remainder of the game, keeping the pressure on, especially with how many weapons Tampa Bay has at its disposal. The one thing working in the Red Wings favorite here is that Andrei Vasilevskiy is not in the net, and he’s been a problem for Detroit recently.

For that reason, I think Detroit has a chance to come out on top against Tampa Bay, especially if they can start fast and grab a goal or two early. With Vasilevskiy not being in net, the over looks enticing, too. While it’s the favorite, so there’s less money to be made, it’s enticing if you’re looking to parlay something.
