The Detroit Red Wings season is off and running. As is the injury report. It’s been just a few days, and the injury reports are trickling in across the league. For Detroit, thankfully, they came into the season with a clean bill of health on most accounts.

However, Detroit Red Wings forward Robby Fabbri is already struggling to stay healthy once again. The team’s forward has certainly had some unlucky stretches of play during his tenure in Hockeytown. Early on in 2023-24, the narrative seems to be the same.

It sounds like Fabbri is struggling to stay healthy already. Per the reports from the beat writers on Friday, Fabbri suffered an injury on Thursday in the loss to the Devils during the season opener. He did not practice Friday and is listed as day-to-day, likely missing Saturday and Monday’s games.

Certainly not news that the Red Wings were hoping for. They are looking to get things going on a high note, and losing a second-line forward would not be the news that they were looking for, especially for Fabbri, who has a track record of struggling with injuries.

Detroit Red Wings forward Robby Fabbri missed time early on.

Early in his tenure with the Red Wings, the trade to acquire Robby Fabbri seemed like an absolute steal for Detroit. They brought in a productive forward who was a top-six guy at the time, settling in and finding his way in Hockeytown.

The deal was a steal, and when Fabbri is healthy, he does an excellent job for the Red Wings. Heck, he picked up a goal in the season opener with a show of quick hands on a quick-release shot in front to beat Vanecek.

When it’s good, it’s good for Fabbri. When it’s bad, it’s bad. Injuries have been a problem during his time with the Red Wings organization, and it has hampered his ability to stay a consistent face in the lineup for Detroit.

Now, early in 2023-24, the same thing is happening once again. Fabbri will miss time, and it sounds like Detroit will run 11 forwards and seven defensemen for the time being. Per Ansar Khan, the reports point to Detroit calling up a forward after Friday night’s game from the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Hopefully, for Fabbri’s sake, he can get back on the ice quickly. Fabbri has already shown he has some issues staying healthy, but hopefully, he can avoid any lengthy absence here.
