The Detroit Red Wings are back in action as they have a set of two home games on Tuesday and Thursday of this week. The first game of the week is against one of the Red Wings’ rival squads, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

While the rivalry may not be as ferocious as it was during the two years they met back-to-back in the Stanley Cup Championships, the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins have had their fair share of hard-fought games.

The Red Wings are looking to get their team moving in the right direction after back-to-back losses against the Flyers on Saturday and the Blues last Thursday. The Red Wings will also likely be without Ville Husso, who might be out for the remainder of the season, and leave the Red Wings backups to slot in.

Things could continue to get ugly for the Red Wings after the team has taken a severe dive off a cliff since the trade deadline. The Red Wings are frankly limping toward the finish line in this season, and they will be tasked with fending off the Penguins in this one.

Detroit Red Wings game information and prediction vs. Penguins

Jake Guentzel has been getting the offense rolling for the Penguins and is someone the Red Wings will have to silence. Sidney Crosby is in town and will likely receive his fair share of boos from the crowd, as is the standard with no.87 in the black & gold.

The Red Wings will also have to quiet the likes of Evgeni Malkin, Bryan Rust, and Jason Zucker. The Penguins’ netminders have been pretty steady as well, with Tristan Jarry settling into their starting role and Casey DeSmith being solid as the team’s no.2 option.

Prediction: The Detroit Red Wings should be looking to get back on track in this one, but it could be tough with how poorly this team has played as of late. The Red Wings will have to get on the board early in his one to take home a win. I like the over in this match-up and the Red Wings on the Puck Line.
