Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin may be on the move.

While the article’s main idea is a player who will be shopped around in the second half, Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin has been shopped around. At least, it seems that way. With rumors already buzzing that the Boston Bruins have inquired about the Red Wings captain, Yzerman may be forced to shop him around.

Even with a Larkin trade package likely already set up after Bo Horvat was traded to the New York Islanders, the Red Wings may move on from Larkin before the trade deadline. I’ll gladly admit that my fandom would take a big hit the day Larkin gets traded, but if the two sides genuinely are unable to reach an agreement on a contract extension, I’d rather than get something for nothing.

After all, Larkin is an unrestricted free agent after this season, and even though the two sides appeared to be close to a contract extension, nothing has been officially agreed upon. Knowing Yzerman, he will trade Larkin and recoup some value if he’s leaning toward the two sides being unable to reach a deal.

For the Red Wings, Larkin put on a show at the All-Star Game down in Florida and is looking to carry a solid first half into the second half. So far, Larkin has 15 goals and 28 assists for 43 total points over 47 games played.

It could go down as a significant deal for the Red Wings, but it’s very plausible that Yzerman will shop around Larkin before the trade deadline.
