The Detroit Red Wings are back with yet another game. After fighting back from a deficit against the Blue Jackets, even though ended up losing in overtime, they still fought hard. Tonight, they will look to bounce back with a win against the Ottawa Senators.

The Detroit Red Wings have taken on the Ottawa Senators twice in the past week or two. During both of those games, the Red Wings played terrible hockey. Losing both of those games 2-5 was pretty embarassing. I mean, in two games, the Ottawa Senators who are arguably a lesser team, outscored the Red Wings 4-10. You can’t have that. So, hopefully tonight they will come out ready to play and to get a win.

So, what do the Red Wings need to do in order to get a win tonight against the Senators? Well, if you look back on the past couple games against the Senators- They actually stayed competitive with them through two periods. However, after those two periods expired, all hell broke lose.

During that two game span, the Red Wings let in six goals in the third period. If you expect to win a game when you allow six goals in two games, little lone in the third period, then you are absolutley crazy.

So, in order to really make a run at stopping the Senators from taking it to us tonight, they will have to play a strong game for all 60 minutes. You can’t collapse in the third period once you have a lead. No. You have to play the game with everything you have for 60 minutes otherwise, you might as well just give up.

If you need evidence to that statement, you can pretty much go back and look at every single loss the Red Wings have. Most of them are going to be due to third period collapses. I expect that to be the thing Blashill emphasizes.
