Sam Gagner returns to Detroit on a one-year contract. The 15 year veteran of 886 NHL games is excited to return to Detroit and mentor some of the young Red Wings. Gagner will help the power play and adds the dimension of being one of the only right-shot forwards on the team. Originally a 6th overall selection of Edmonton in 2007, Gagner has scored 474 points during his NHL career.

Bertuzzi received a two-year, $9.5M extension and it serves as a deal that works for both sides. WIth the Red Wings transitioning through their rebuild, the next couple of years will assist both Bertuzzi and Yzerman determine where everything stands.
Bertuzzi had seven points (5-2) in nine games last season before injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

Gustav Lindstrom signed a two-year extension with Detroit. The young blueliner may end up splitting this season between Detroit and Grand Rapids (AHL). He has played 29 games in the NHL over the last two years after moving from the SHL in Sweden. He has earned four assists while playing in the NHL. In 58 AHL games, Lindstrom has collected eight assists.
