Steve Yzerman traded a 3rd round draft pick in 2021 and the rights to Jonathan Bernier for Carolina RFA goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic.  Nedeljkovic immediately signed a two-year contract with Detroit.  Nedeljkovic was drafted in the 2nd round, #37 overall, by Carolina in 2014.  He has played parts of five seasons in the NHL, but was still considered a rookie last year.  He was a finalist for the Calder Memorial Trophy recognizing the top rookie in the NHL last season.  In 2018-19, he backstopped Charlotte (AHL) to a Calder Cup Championship.  In 2015-16, Nedeljkovic was the #1 goalie for Team USA at the World Junior Championships where he won a bronze medal.  Nedeljkovic appears to be the goalie of the future in Detroit after Thomas Greiss becomes an UFA after next season.
