Another Red Wing to the KHL?

AUTHOR: David Swartzlander | IN: Red Wings | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

It would seem that the great Darren McCarty may not as of yet be done playing hockey, it was revealed yesterday that he is currently in negotiations with a team from the KHL. Not a whole lot to report about this yet, but I figured I could use it as an excuse to introduce my weekly Thursday theme. It will consist of some of the best Darren Mccarty Goals and Fights(probably more fights) also NHL related news and links from articles and blogs I’ve read from the week preceding. It will be called “The Grinder” in honor of Darren [...]

Potential Lines for the 09-10 Wings!

AUTHOR: David Swartzlander | IN: Red Wings | COMMENTS: 12 Comments

Once it was confirmed that Hudler, Samuelsson and Hossa were leaving it seemed all but a lock that Justin Abdelkader and Darren Helm would be starting this season with the Red Wings, and even up until last week when the Wings signed Bertuzzi the latter still seemed to be the case. Now roster spots in Traverse City for the Wings will be much harder to sercure.

After  sitting down and writing out the possible lines for the upcoming season, Abdelkader and or Helm making the team out of training camp may not be so easy. With the Bertuzzi signing it gives [...]

Central Division Preview – 5th Place

AUTHOR: David Swartzlander | IN: Red Wings | COMMENTS: None Yet

In addition to the Red Wing’s player introductions I am doing leading up to the Season, I am going to do a Central Division preview starting with who I feel will finish in 5th place and finishing with a 1st place and 2nd place combined post.
The 2008-2009 Predators began the season with low expectations. After a slow start, they made a strong push after the All-Star break and even with no movement at the trade deadline, the team found themselves still battling for a playoff spot into the last week of the season. Buoyed by the return of Steve Sullivan [...]

Red Wings sign Bertuzzi to one-year deal

AUTHOR: David Swartzlander | IN: Red Wings | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Yesterday I had an article started that discussed the possible return of Todd Bertuzzi to the Red Wings.  As I was writing, it was announced that they had signed Bertuzzi to a 1-year deal.  I have not been a fan of Todd Bertuzzi over the years, even previous to the stick swinging incident were he ended Steve Moore’s career. The hatred started when he was on Vancouver, looking back it was probably because of my dislike for Brian Burke will still exists to this day. Since the incident with Moore, Bertuzzi has been a shell of his former self due [...]

Wings to launch redesigned Web site

AUTHOR: David Swartzlander | IN: Red Wings | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

DETROIT — This summer all NHL teams are converting their Web sites to a style similar to NHL.com. The graphics and content details are unique to each team, but the framework will be streamlined and freshened.
The Red Wings are scheduled to re-launch their new design during the week of August 17. The site will have a new three-column look and feel, along with an improved layout and functionality.
A key component of the upcoming Web site redesign is its clean-uncluttered layout while at the same time presenting plenty of information on the home page. Plans have been worked on since the [...]
