It might have come with a false start in the game, but Patrick Kane is now the NHL's top U.S. born points producer in history, with 1,375 career points. Kane's family, including his father, mother, partner, and sons were in attendance for the game, watching from the stands.
However, with his assist on the recently re-signed Ben Chiarot's goal to tie things up in the second period, Kane has surpassed Mike Modano after tying the legendary NHLer in Detroit's last game against the L.A. Kings.
Etched in history.

Kane might have surpassed the record earlier in the game if not for a goal-scoring review that revealed the veteran forward had crossed into the offensive zone just a foot ahead of the puck while trying to dump it off to Lucas Raymond.
Patrick Kane overcame injuries to reach historic heights this season
Kane has been having a historic season with the Red Wings, as both the player and franchise have celebrated several milestones this year. Earlier in the season Kane scored 500th career goal, joining a select list of players (and Red Wings like Brett Hull and Steve Yzerman) in Detroit's game against the Vancouver Canucks.
All while the legendary "Showtime" has been battling an upper body injury from earlier in the season that has limited Kane to just 39 of the Red Wings 54 games so far this year. Kane now has 500 goals and 875 points to his name through just under 1,350 games across his career. The 37-year-old winger has been an invaluable resource to the Red Wings with his vast knowledge both on and off the ice.
Even if Kane spent almost a decade of his career ruining Detroit fans' nights, tonight, the fanbase got to celebrate with him as he notched another career milestone.
