The Detroit Red Wings are no longer the only hockey team hosted at Little Casear's Arena.

Today, Red Wings reporter Daniella Bruce and the Professional Women's Hockey League announced that the city of Detroit will officially have a PWHL franchise of its own. While the name and logo have not been revealed yet, the PWHL confirmed that the new franchise will start its inaugural season at Little Casear's Arena.

The team's color palette, per the PHWL press release, will be black and silver complemented by white accents. "The palette is distinct from any other team in the league, with the primary colors intended to evoke Detroit’s innovative and industrial spirit, matched with the resilient identity of Metro Detroiters," reads the press release. "Meanwhile, the red accent is a nod to the city’s celebrated sports history, in particular, the Red Wings’ and Hockeytown’s hockey stewardship in the United States for more than 100 years."

"Hello, Motor City!" the press release reads. "We’re thrilled to welcome PWHL Detroit as the league’s ninth team, debuting in the 2026–27 season at Little Caesars Arena. It’s an honor to join this passionate community and its hockey tradition, and we're excited for all the memories we’ll share in our inaugural season and beyond."
