Griffins are loaded between the pipes

Michael Postava

Sebastian Cossa

Trey Augustine

If the forward group was impossible to filter , the goaltending situation is another thing entirely.

In the “what have you done for me lately” category, Postava is the clear favorite to start game one. He was the most recently recalled goalie to Detroit (recalled on two separate occasions). Although he didn’t play, the vote of confidence in his favor likely means we see Postava in Game One. Nothing in his play from then until now has changed, so it's hard to imagine Postava isn't the Game One starter.

With the guaranteed set of back-to-back games Postava likely sits Game Two and either Cossa or Augustine tap in. Cossa has more experience in the AHL and has helped the team get to through record-breaking season. However, Augustine has looked a bit more consistent in his two games in the AHL. It wouldn’t be outlandish if Augustine gets a start in one of the three games.

All three have completely valid reasons for starting with Postava likely being the go-to-guy.
