Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin is a team leader on and off the ice. Yesterday, his team grew by one.

On Friday, Larkin shared a life update on Instagram. He and his wife, Kenzy, announced the birth of their first child.

"Lennyn Marie Larkin — you are our greatest dream come true," the couple announced Friday. Kenzy wrote the post, which was accompanied by a picture of their newborn girl, and Dylan Larkin reposted it.

In the top comments, droves of his Red Wings family chimed in to provide their congratulations, including teammate Lucas Raymond, who posted two hearts on the post. Anna Seidel, Moritz Seider's girlfriend, a three-time Olympic speedskater, added, "The most perfect little angel."

Miracles happen both on and off the ice and for the Larkins, their personal lives have been anything but a smooth ride. The pair revealed their familt endured the heartache of miscarried in 2021 and 2024. This goes to show you there's a lot more to life than just hockey. Sure, we haven't won a Stanley Cup in a very long time and yes, we haven't seen the playoffs in nearly 10 years. But let's take a breather on that aspect and celebrate the fact that a life was born, a miracle baby at that.

We were a bit harsh on Larkin for how he ended the 2024-25 campaign, but the birth of his daughter could provide him with a much-needed boost going into training camp. Furthermore, it likely brought a smile to Larkin's face that so many of his teammates and those connected to them joined the congratulatory parade.

The Wings fanbase has been hungry for positive headlines this offseason. This provides us with a nice reset before we jump into free agency. We at Octopus Thrower congratulate Dylan and Kenzy are on the birth of their sweet angel.
