This shouldn't be news to any fan of the Detroit Red Wings, but any hopes of a Dylan Larkin reconciliation should be put to rest according to Bob Duff of Detroit Hockey Now.
"If you were holding out hope that somehow Steve Yzerman's departure as GM would lead to a reconciliation between Larkin and the Red Wings, the signs are everywhere that this absolutely isn’t in the cards," writes Duff. In his article, Duff goes on to point out that, when asked about whether there was a chance of reconciliation and rescinding his trade request, Larkin had this to say:
“I’m going to keep that to myself,” Larkin said.
Duff doesn't hold back, letting Larkin's words speak for themselves. "In that moment, all he had to do was say something, as he’d never say never to staying in Detroit. Instead, he actually doubled down on wanting to head for an exit as soon as possible."
“I asked for a trade,” Larkin said. “I don’t regret it.”
Larkin's time in Hockeytown coming to an end
It's important to note that Larkin hasn't been traded yet, but he likely won't suit up for the opening night lineup. Larkin suffered an upper body injury during training camp and hasn't suited up to play with the Red WIngs since. While some speculate that the injury is a little too convenient, others see it as an opportunity for prospects to carve out bigger roles for themselves.
Either way, the Red Wings will have to get used to a life without Larkin eventually.
Fortunately, it looks like there's been some movement on the trade front. Dylan Larkin has allegedly expanded his trade list to include eight teams. Names like the Washington Capitals, Colorado Avalanche, Tampa Bay Lightning, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights and Florida Panthers have all been explicitly named as candidates.

With rosters due Monday at 5 p.m. eastern time, the Red Wings will likely submit the list with both Jacob Bernard-Docker and Dylan Larkin excluded due to injury. This, of course, can change between now and Friday, but there's also a chance that Larkin is done for good with Detroit.
For now, we will have to wait and see. Chris Johnston of The Athletic doesn't believe either side is close to getting a deal done.
