While the Detroit Red Wings keep looking for a spark to reignite their offensive output, star winger Patrick Kane is searching for his 500th goal. Kane currently has 494 career goals, and 446 of them have come with the Chicago Blackhawks, an organization Kane won three Stanley Cups with.
But that 500th goal, barring anything unforeseen like a long-term injury, a trade, or an awful season, will occur with Detroit. It's a rare club to be a part of, as Kane would become just the 50th player in NHL history to join the 500 Club, joining former Red Wings greats like Gordie Howe and Steve Yzerman.
Kane, who missed time earlier this season because of an upper-body injury, could be further along. But he still has roughly five months to hit the 500-goal milestone this season, and Kane's recent performances tell us it's most likely going to happen.
In 2023-24, he played in just 50 games, and ended up with 20 goals. Kane potted 21 of them in 2024-25 across 72 games, and two in his first seven games of action in 2025-26. Kane has also never scored fewer than 15 goals in a single season, and that came during the COVID-shortened 2020-21 campaign.
Other Detroit Red Wings players closing in on milestones
Dylan Larkin has been on a roll this season and has 19 points in the Red Wings' first 16 games, and is just five away from his 600th point. Averaging 1.18 points per contest in 2025-26, Larkin could score his 600th point within the next four to five games if he keeps up his current pace.
Lucas Raymond, who seems to be getting better every time he skates onto the ice, is 33 away from his 300th point. Raymond, who has averaged 64 points per season since he debuted in 2021-22, will have no problem hitting 300 if he stays healthy. Raymond previously crossed the century mark in goals scored during a win against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Oct. 11.
Finally, Moritz Seider is 14 away from his 200th point. Seider, a two-way player forced into a stay-at-home role given the Red Wings' leaky blue line over the course of his career, has averaged 44 points per season since he burst onto the scene in 2021-22 and won the Calder Trophy. One of the NHL's most durable players who has yet to miss a game, Seider is all but a lock to cross the 200-point milestone.
Overall, Red Wings fans have quite a few players on their team ready to reach new heights in goals and points. But none is bigger than the milestone Patrick Kane is on the verge of reaching. Scoring 500 goals is no easy feat in the NHL. The league has been around for over 100 years, and just 49 players are listed, so when Kane breaks that record, expect him to gain some well-deserved recognition.
