Carter Gylander (G) - Move

Drafted 191st overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Carter Gylander was the first of the six goaltenders Steve Yzerman would draft to start building up the team's incredibly slim goaltending pipeline.

Gylander played four seasons in the NCAA with Colgate University, where he won the NCAA championship and tournament MVP in the 2022-23 season. Currently, he plays for the Toledo Walleye in the ECHL, where he boasts .905 SV% in the 24 games he's played with the organization.

Unfortunately, with the drafting of Sebastian Cossa and, more recently, Trey Augustine, Gylander has slipped down the goaltending pipeline. He could, however, be very valuable in a trade. Many teams would likely want a goaltending prospect like Gylander, but he would be even more valuable going to a rebuilding team that needs a future goaltender. So, including him in a package deal for an already established NHL player could really move the needle in the right way.

Antti Tuomisto (D) - Keep

Drafted 35th overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Antti Tuomisto wasn't the preferred pick at the time, but has since grown into a player that could snag a spot on the Red Wings.

Tuomisto has gradually worked his way up from a second-round bust to top pair in Grand Rapids. Since becoming a full-time member of the Griffins, he has been at a 0.5 per game pace all season and has been an offensive powerhouse for the team's blueline.

He's the Red Wings' best candidate to become the third pair RHD within the prospect pipeline. Sure, a third pair defenseman may be moveable to some, but a right-hand defenseman can not only run a power play when needed but also provide some depth offense from the blueline.
