The Detroit Red Wings snapped back into shape a bit after their trip to Sweden. The caliber of play has improved a bit, and the Red Wings are seemingly starting to figure things out. They brought in Patrick Kane for a nice boost of offense.

But they are getting a nice boost from within as well. Detroit Red Wings forward Michael Rasmussen is coming alive and starting to see the offense show up on the scoresheet. In the absence of J.T. Compher, Rasmussen has stepped up.

Rasmussen has been due; patrolling the bottom six’s been a bit of a quiet start for him. He’s played well in terms of actions on the ice. It’s not that he was struggling, but the offense was not flowing; the last few games have seen him snap it into gear.

The Red Wings could certainly use a nice boost in offense from Rasmussen, so this burst in offense is more than welcome. Detroit has to be hoping that Rasmussen can keep it going, at least for a while.

Detroit Red Wings forward Michael Rasmussen is tapping into offense.

On the season, Rasmussen has played in 25 games, with five goals and six assists for 11 total points on the campaign. He’s a plus-9 as well, which is pretty nice. Over his last five games, he has three goals and two assists for five points.

He has five points through three games if you shorten the window even more. Rasmussen still has more in the tank, especially after last year, where he was performing quite well before a knee injury ended his 2022-23 campaign.

In 56 games last season, Rasmussen scored ten goals and had 19 assists for 29 total points. It was a career-best, and he was on pace to surpass his old career-best of 27 points over 80 games by a long shot if it were not for the injury.

Things have not entirely played out the same in 2023-24, but that is okay. He’s seemingly waking up a bit and finding his groove with the team’s new and improved forward core. Even as a returner, he has to jive with the new additions, which takes time.

But the production spike as of late is surely nice for Rasmussen and the Red Wings overall. As the Red Wings keep going through their slate of games, there has to be hope that Rasmussen can continue to score. Hopefully, he can climb back to a higher rate of production moving forward.
