Detroit Red Wings: J.T. Compher playing a 200-foot game early on
The Detroit Red Wings are off and running on the 2023-24 season, with plenty of new additions popping off. It’s early, but there’s plenty to be excited about with this Red Wings team. One of those things comes with how well J.T. Compher has adjusted to his new home.
It’s early, but the Detroit Red Wings have to be thrilled with how things have been going for the veteran forward. He’s no stranger to the NHL but has been working to settle in as part of the Red Wings roster, and so far, the results have been solid.
Through the first few games of the season, Compher has seemingly done a good job settling in and has embraced his role with his new team. For Detroit, it looked like Compher will be solid up the middle for Detroit.
Compher has started off strong, really showing a 200-foot game in Detroit. He’s looked good on both ends of the ice and has done an excellent job playing a complete game, looking the part of a 200-foot player, which is extremely beneficial.
Detroit Red Wings forward J.T. Compher is excelling early on.
The Red Wings signed Compher to a five-year, $25.5 million contract this summer, and the very early goings have been good. He came into camp and immediately seemed to find his footing with the new squad.
He’s looked good up the middle and has been an asset for Detroit all over the ice. The 28-year-old had spent his entire career with the Colorado Avalanche before signing with Detroit. He knows what it’s like to make a cup run and will be an asset in that regard when it comes to providing that veteran presence.
Compher has made his presence known through the first few games with the Red Wings. He’s got a goal and three assists for four points over four games played. He’s found ways to get involved offensively and helped produce some points to help the Red Wings get it done in the early goings of this year.
It has been more than just the offense, too. Compher has been able to get it done in the defensive zone, too, playing a well-rounded game there, helping really prove to be an asset for Detroit. It’s something that deserves being noted, as the Red Wings have gotten plenty from their new addition.
For Detroit, maximizing the value from these new signings is important. For Compher, playing a 200-foot game only makes him more valuable to Detroit, which is a big deal for a team on the cusp looking to make the playoffs.
If Compher can string together a solid year overall, playing that 200-foot game, Detroit will be in a good spot.
