Detroit Red Wings: Can Moritz Seider continue to make leaps in 2023-24?

The Detroit Red Wings are hoping that this year can be a big year for Moritz Seider. He’s heading into year three with the Red Wings and has a chance to really separate himself in terms of his performance, reaching that next level.
Don’t get it twisted; Seider is already a massive part of the Detroit Red Wings and a premier up-and-coming defender in the National Hockey League (NHL). For Detroit, they have to be hoping that he can continue to make leaps and possibly emerge as a Norris candidate for years to come.
The 22-year-old defender is someone who has been a big piece of the puzzle for Detroit, and this year is a chance for him to continue showing improvements and try to reach the next level. He’s also in a big year, with contract negotiations starting to garner more attention.
Detroit has to lock up Seider for the long term and cannot afford to skimp out on his contract. He deserves a massive seven or eight-year deal and will likely get it. Somewhere in the $8.5-9 million range, making it even a step up from where Owen Power’s deal was in Buffalo.

If the Red Wings can go out and get a deal done with Seider, locking him down for years to come. There’s going to be a nice sigh of relief from the organization. Seider’s got a really bright future ahead and has a chance to be one of the critical pieces on Detroit’s backend moving forward.
The Red Wings youngster has a chance to really take off this season. He’s already an integral piece of the puzzle and has been exceptional overall, but he can take some further steps in 2023-24 if he goes out and continues to tap into offense.
Seider is off to a good start in Detroit already. He’s got a goal and an assist for 2 points to his credit in the Red Wings’ first couple of games. There’s already a lot to like with Seider, but if he takes that next step, he could be Detroit’s version of Victor Hedman.
It sure would be nice to have a true general on the backend, and Seider has the makings of being that type of player. Seider’s already been a real special player. He took home the Calder Trophy his first year in the league as the league’s best rookie.

Now, he’s looking to continue to take some steps in the right direction and continue to be a premier defender in the NHL.
