The Detroit Red Wings have to be hoping that forward Carter Mazur will be able to offer some real excitement to the organization as he continues to try and work toward time wearing the winged wheel.

For the Detroit Red Wings looking ahead, the team has to be hopeful that Mazur will get some more time to develop. Mazur may not come out of training camp with the team’s opening night roster, but that is okay.

After all, he just made his debut with the organization in 2022-23, finding a spot with the Grand Rapids Griffins as part of the AHL after officially making the jump beyond the conclusion of the 2022-23 NCAA season with the University of Denver.

Mazur was able to put together a tremendous collegiate career as part of the Pioneers’ forward core, being an offensive force in the NCHC. He made the jump into the Red Wings organization and is looking to keep moving up the ladder of development.

Detroit Red Wings prospect Carter Mazur will bring excitement.

While Mazur may not be bringing all this excitement as a prospect with the Red Wings in 2022-23, he’s got plenty of time to get himself into a Red Wings uniform. Some time in Grand Rapids is going to do him well, especially after his hot start from the 2022-23 season.

Mazur’s last season as a Pioneer treated him to a 40-game performance where he scored 22 goals and added 15 assists for 37 total points. It capped off another outstanding performance in the NCHC and got the Red Wings’ attention.

Mazur may have only played six games with the Griffins, but he scored three goals and added three assists. This comes on top of a 10-game stint with the United States National team during the World Championships, where he scored a goal and added three assists for four total points.

The Red Wings must be excited about what the future might hold for their forward with plenty of scoring upside. He has upside as a scorer and is hoping to try and continue to tap into production at the AHL level until his name is called to join the Red Wings at the NHL level.

As mentioned above, the Red Wings may not be bringing in Mazur to the NHL roster anytime soon, but he’s going to bring excitement as a scorer when he does. He indeed has the offensive ability in his toolshed; he just needs to continue to polish things with the Griffins before making the jump.
