The Detroit Red Wings continue to turn the last few pages on their 2022-23 season and finish up the remaining games of their schedule. David Perron has been a bright spot lately, finding ways to get things done offensively down the stretch.

The veteran forward has been a welcome sight for the Detroit Red Wings in his first season with the organization. He’s been exceptional, and his veteran presence has proven to be a benefit for this team as they continue to grow and find their way as a competing team.

While the team is not headed toward a playoff berth, Perron and the fellas have continued working on trying and putting themselves in a good spot moving forward. Especially with the Red Wings struggling to find their way for a bit there, Perron has been able to help turn things around and get things back on track.

The Red Wings have won two in a row, and Perron had a hat trick in the Red Wings’ recent victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. On Tuesday night, he almost managed another hat trick in the Red Wings’ rout of the Montreal Canadiens, where Perron managed two goals.

Detroit Red Wings David Perron is scoring in bunches.

The 34-year-old forward has genuinely been a bright spot for the Red Wings’ offense, and he was able to cross beyond that 20-goal threshold on Tuesday night. He added two goals and an assist for three total points.

That brings him to a season total of 22 goals and 31 points for 53 total points over 77 games played. He has been hot lately, scoring in bunches over the last week or so. In his last five games played for the Red Wings, Perron has nine total points.

With six goals and three assists for five games, the Red Wings have to be happy with the production that he has shown. Truly, he may not top his season total in points from 2021-22, but Perron has been a welcome addition that the Red Wings have to be thrilled with.

There’s reason to believe that he can come out again in 2023-24 and be just as much of an impact on the team’s forward core. He’s under contract with a $4.75 million cap hit for next season, and it’s nice to know he will be coming back.

Even with a roster crunch likely coming, it will be good to know that Perron is going to be back and provide a boost offensively but also provide a morale boost and help keep this room together.
