The Detroit Red Wings are counting down the games that remain on their 2022-23 schedule. Lately, the injury bug has been a bit overwhelming for the Red Wings, keeping players off the ice and leaving them short-handed from the team they were a month ago.

The latest news from the Detroit Red Wings pertains to forward Robby Fabbri. He sustained a knee injury after a rough hit a few weeks back. Initially, the Red Wings were optimistic about their forward being able to get back on the ice this season.

But, after multiple ACL tears, surgeries, and recoveries, there is bound to be some concern, and the Red Wings made sure Fabbri got things checked out. It was noted that Fabbri will undergo a minor procedure to clean things up, leaving him sidelined for 4-6 weeks.

This means his 2022-23 season is officially done, and he will be looking to get back on track this summer and come back in 2023-24 healthy once again with the Red Wings organization. The 27-year-old has been a staple of the Red Wings’ forward core for the last few years and is looking to remain a part of it.

Detroit Red Wings forward Robby Fabbri is to miss the remainder of 2022-23.

The Red Wings forward has had his fair share of injuries but has been solid for the team when he is healthy. It’s not just the ACL injuries of the past as well. He had a rough bout with COVID-19 that left him out of game shape for an extended time during the COVID-19 season.

He also missed time with a lower-body injury earlier in 2022-23 after already being a late arrival to the season after his ACL injury in 2021-22 that left him recovering and working toward a return as the 2022-23 season was underway.

While he may have had some injury troubles in his past, the Fabbri that the Red Wings get to see when he is healthy and part of the team’s forward core is good. He’s been a bright spot in the offense.

The Red Wings forward is done in 2022-23, meaning he will finish the year with just 28 games played. This season, he had seven goals and nine assists for 16 total points in a winged-wheel uniform.

It’s certainly not the level of production that many are hoping for, but there has to be reason to believe he can get back on track. The pressure might get put on if he wavers in 2023-24, but for now, there’s still reason to be optimistic that Fabbri can get back on the ice and be a productive part of the team’s forward core once again.
