The Detroit Red Wings signed prospect Amadeus Lombardi to an entry-level contract in December. He was a fourth-round draft pick from the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The Newmarket, Ontario, native has been playing with the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League.

Amadeus Lombardi has crushed it this season. The 19-year-old has been tearing it up at the OHL level and should be someone that the Detroit Red Wings fans keep their eyes on moving forward.

Lombardi has continued to find his offense and is starting to make it seem like he might have some tools to be excited about. The Red Wings prospect has plenty of helium as he finishes the 2022-23 season on a high note.

Having helium is a good thing too. Prospects with helium can increase their ranking on prospect lists, move up draft boards, or just better their projection with development. The point is, Lombardi has the helium to look like a solid prospect, even as a fourth-rounder.

Detroit Red Wings forward Amadeus Lombardi has helium.

Lombardi has shown up and shown out for the Firebirds this season. He will have to keep proving himself up the ranks of the organization on the way to the NHL to maintain his “helium,” but right now, he’s catching some eyes.

Even with the trade deadline being a hot topic with the Red Wings being so busy as sellers, Lombardi found ways to catch the eyes of Red Wings media outlets as he buried his 40th goal of the season.

Lombardi has played in 60 games with the Firebirds, with 41 goals and 45 assists for 86 total points. He is also a plus-13 on the season, which is worth noting. Now, he’s not going crazy and scoring 100 points a game like Connor Bedard, but there’s something to be said about Lombardi’s explosion of offense.

The left-handed shooting centerman could very well become an intriguing name to watch. He’s 5-foot-10 and weighs in at 165 pounds, so he has room to keep strengthening up that frame/build moving forward.

As silly as it sounds, one of the things the Red Wings want to see Lombardi do is improve his play off the puck. He’s an excellent skater, and sometimes that takes him away from the play/puck because he’s quick.

So being someone who can get involved and use his speed to his advantage better is something the Red Wings are hoping for. The hope for the Red Wings is that he can continue to shine offensively as he moves up the ranks, but it’s early.

Lombardi has the helium to do so as of now, even if he’s not getting all that much attention as an OHL fourth-rounder. Keep an eye on him moving forward.
