The Detroit Red Wings have been red hot as of late. They’re fresh off their third win in a row after taking back-to-back games against the Vancouver Canucks in a home-and-home matchup. The most recent was a 6-1 rout of the Canucks as they began a road trip facing the same teams they did last week.

After capping off the 2-game set with Vancouver, the Detroit Red Wings are headed to Alberta to take on the Edmonton Oilers and then Calgary Flames. First up, it’s Edmonton as they take on the Oilers in the second game of the road trip.

Both teams have been performing well; even if the Oilers are 2-1-1 since the second half began, they are 7-1-2 in their last ten games. The Red Wings are 6-3-1 in their previous ten games and are 3-1-0 since the second half began.

Detroit’s only loss in the second half came against the Oilers last week in what turned out to be an aggressive and physical matchup by the end of things. It could be a long game, with things still being quite fresh.

Detroit Red Wings game information and prediction vs. Oilers

Even though the teams do not have some storied rivalry, there seemed to be some angst between both sides. After the game ended, the two teams got a little feisty, exchanging words and throwing some punches before departing the ice.

For the Red Wings, physicality is not a prevalent part of their game. Not that Edmonton is going to go out and play that way, either, but it could make for an interesting matchup tomorrow night. The two teams are going to square off again, and fans should be expecting some fireworks.

Game: Detroit Red Wings (24-20-8) v.s. Edmonton Oilers (30-19-5)

When: Wednesday, February 15th

Time: 9:30 PM ET

Where: Rogers Place

Where to Watch: Bally Sports Detroit

Odds: According to DraftKings, the Edmonton Oilers are the favorite with a -215 payout on the Moneyline. The Detroit Red Wings have a +185 payout on the Moneyline; on the contrary, they are the favorite at +1.5 on the Puck Line with a -130 payout. Edmonton has a +110 payout on the Puck Line with a -1.5 line. The over/under is currently set at 6.5, with the over being the favorite with a -125 payout. The under holds a +105 payout as things stand.

Prediction: The Red Wings just beat up on the Canucks pretty badly. The confidence is high, and the offense was firing on all cylinders. However, the Edmonton Oilers’ offense is no joke, either. They found the back of the net five teams against the Red Wings last week, and things could get ugly once again. The Red Wings have a three-game win streak, and their work cut out for them against Edmonton in their barn.

For that reason, I like Edmonton to snap the Red Wings’ streak. I’m picking Edmonton Moneyline and the over at 6.5, expecting both teams to have the offense rolling but Edmonton to come out on top. Closer to game time, it might be worth looking at some prop bets and hammering the over on points for Dylan Larkin, who continues to stay hot and get the job done.
