The Detroit Red Wings are set to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning as the 2022-23 season starts to nosedive in the wrong direction. The Red Wings have a (13-11-7) record. The Lightning has a (20-9-1) record to compare.

The Detroit Red Wings have dropped their sixth-straight game and have fallen to sixth in the Atlantic Division. On the other hand, the Lightning were surging as they had a five-game win streak going into their contest Tuesday night where they lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

It’s been an unfortunate turn for the Red Wings, who have started to fall off in terms of their performance during the 2022-23 season. The Red Wings’ last win actually came against the Lightning in Florida on December 6th. It has been over two weeks since the team has charted a “W” in the win column.

The Red Wings almost snapped the streak against the Washington Capitals, who were in town on Monday, falling in overtime. Things seem to keep falling apart or going against the Red Wings, leading to quite a rough patch.

Detroit Red Wings game information and prediction vs. Lightning

The Red Wings certainly have their work cut out for them once again. It feels like beating a dead horse, but they will surely not be favored in this matchup, and it will be an uphill battle. It feels like the Red Wings continue to remain lifeless.

Key Players Out For Red Wings:

Odds: According to DraftKings, the Tampa Bay Lightning are the favorite in this game, looking at the Moneyline odds. The Lightning are favored, holding -165 odds to win, with the Red Wings being +140 on the Moneyline. The Red Wings are the favorite on the Puck Line at +1.5 with -170 odds. The games over/under is currently set at 6.5, with over holding +100 odds and the under having -120 odds.

Now that we have some of the odds laid out let’s look at the game a bit deeper and offer some predictions.

Prediction: It’s going to be another rough one. Buckle up. The Red Wings faithful may want to take a night off from watching the team as they will likely not like the product shown. While the Red Wings’ last win came against Tampa, I have a hard time believing that they will pull off another victory against them, given their current level of play.

But, with Tampa on back-to-back road games, they have a chance. I do not see this working out well for the Red Wings. I’ll be honest; the line is still pretty close as of now. I thought it was more of a -210 line in favor of Tampa Bay type of match-up, but I seem to be incorrect.

It’s expected to be a Ville Husso versus Brian Elliott match-up. The Red Wings’ saving grace is that Elliott is in net. Though, Husso has not been as solid as of late. I like the under in this match-up. I like the Red Wings on the Puck Line at +1.5, keeping things close enough.

However, it concerns me about getting burned on an empty netter. But, then again, the picks in these previews have performed about as well as an emergency backup goalie. That said, let’s hope the Red Wings can come out on top and end the win streak.
