The Detroit Red Wings are set to take on the Hurricanes, who come to town as the team has returned from their four-game road trip after capping things off with an overtime loss to the Stars down in Dallas.

The Detroit Red Wings have a (13-8-6) record, which gives them 32 points which is good for fourth in the Atlantic Division. The Hurricanes have a (15-6-6) record to compare, which is good for second in the Metropolitan Division.

This will be the first of a back-to-back stretch as the Red Wings continue through the season. They have the Hurricanes on Tuesday and follow it up with a contest against the Wild on Wednesday in Minnesota.

The Red Wings are up for another test, as the Hurricanes are firing on all cylinders. Even without Frederik Andersen, the Hurricanes have been playing tough in front of Pyotr Kochetkov and Antti Raanta. It will make for a good game between the two teams.

Detroit Red Wings game information and prediction vs. Hurricanes

As the Detroit Red Wings look to get things going after the road trip, where they walked away with a 2-1-1 record and added five points to their total, Carolina will provide a good test. It could be a good bounce-back game after a hard-fought road loss or turn into a game they do not want to lose on home ice.

Odds: According to DraftKings, the Carolina Hurricanes are the Moneyline favorite, with -140 odds to win. The Red Wings are favorited on the Puck Line at +1.5 with -190 odds. The over/under is currently set at 6.0, with both the over and the under being set at -110 odds.

Now that we have some of the odds laid out let’s look at the game a bit deeper and offer some predictions.

Prediction: Back on home ice, I like the Red Wings’ chances against the Hurricanes, but it will still be a big fight. Ville Husso was already confirmed as the starter for Tuesday’s contest. Leaving some room to think the Red Wings will hang in there.

The Hurricanes play solid defense with Rob Brind’Amour behind the bench, and it shows. They are in the top five for the least goals allowed in 2022-23. On the flip side, the offense is not always going to produce a large amount, ranking 26th in the league for goals for.

The Red Wings need to capitalize on this. With Husso in net, they have a better chance to stave off the Hurricanes and focus on finding the back of the net. With a two-day break after the road trip, I think the Red Wings have a chance to upset the Hurricanes.

For my prediction, I’m going with the Red Wings Moneyline. It’s just a hunch, but as good as Kochetkov has been in Andersen’s absence, I think the Red Wings have a chance to keep the Hurricanes quiet.

Keep an eye on the prop bets as game time gets closer, too, could be some room for action on shot-on-goal over/under’s as well as goalie props.
