The Detroit Red Wings are on a three-game win streak, and in those three games, Dominik Kubalik has four points, including two goals.

On Sunday night in New York against the Rangers, the Red Wings got off to a slow start and found themselves in a 2-0 hole. After storming back, the game went to overtime, where Kubalik scored the game-winner on the powerplay for his sixth goal of the season.

Dominik Kubalik is the MVP right now for the Detroit Red Wings

Kubalik has 15 points in 12 games this season. Eight of those points have come on the powerplay showing his effectiveness on the offensive end of the ice.

But that doesn’t mean he isn’t effective in the defensive zone. Kubalik is plus-two on the season; not perfect for a player who has three more points than games played, but for the current state of the Red Wings, it’s mighty good.

Dominik Kubalik is tied for the most goals on the team with Dylan Larkin, along with the most points on the team. Kubalik has the third-most shots on goal on the team with 29; only Larkin and David Perron have more with 32. Kubalik leads the team in shooting percentage with 20.7 percent.

He is also the team’s second-best faceoff man, with a win percentage of 56.25 percent. Only Oskar Sundqvist has a better faceoff win percentage; 66.67 percent.

Even if the numbers weren’t enough to convince you he is the most valuable player for the Red Wings, try to imagine this team without him on the ice; they wouldn’t look the same.

Kubalik is a tremendous hockey player. He finds open ice in the offensive zone and takes away lanes in the defensive zone. At 27 years old, he is on pace to have the best season of his career.

Adding Kuablik this past offseason might be one of the best moves general manager Steve Yzerman has made since coming home to Detroit, as Kubalik is a huge part of why the Detroit Red Wings are currently 7-3-2 and in second place in the Atlantic division.

Dominik Kubalik and the Red Wings are back in action on Tuesday at home against the Montreal Canadiens. The game is scheduled to start a 7 pm. You can watch the game on Bally Sports Detroit.
