The Detroit Red Wings draft preparations are in full swing. With them having been eliminated from Stanley Cup contention, the Red Wings mindset has to be getting prepared for the NHL entry draft. With that, it means we are officially in the mock draft season.

The thing that makes this time so fun is all the anticipation and excitement leading up to the draft. Being able to do mock drafts and try to get you’re favorite prospects on your team, it’s just fun to do even if it isn’t quite realistic. Furthermore, there are so many things that could change and happen before the draft which makes it that much more exciting.

The Detroit Red Wings officially landed with pick eight in the 2022 NHL entry draft. In front of them they have the Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, Arizona Coyotes, Seattle Kraken, Philadelphia Flyers, Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Ottawa Sentaors. Which, given some of those teams’ needs, the Red Wings could be in a position to potentially trade back or maybe the board falls in favor of the Red Wings and they land with a top tier players. Once again, so much excitement and anticipation regarding the draft.
