The Second-Line, Second Coming of Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings have struggled finding a true center two behind Dylan Larkin. I mean, like, I didn’t realize how hard it is to find a talented center in this league. But apparently it is. Nonetheless, The Detroit Red Wings center problems may be a issue but their wings aren’t.

The Red Wings traded for wing, Jakub Vrana, back in April of 2021. In return the the Washington Capitals got forward, Anthony Mantha. Since that point, Vrana has done nothing but excel in Detroit.

On the other hand, former first-round pick Filip Zadina has finally looked to hit his stride with the Red Wings.

Towards the end of this season, we’ve seen a lot of good between the two of them. How they play off each other, how the confidence they play with increases, and how their production increases when they are together. It doesn’t take a genius to see how great they play together.

The first line won’t be touched until proven to be unproductive. However, I’d wager it won’t be long until we are saying the same about the second line. Between Vrana and Zadina, the Red Wings really have something growing.
