Sweden

Team Sweden could  have had as many as four players but, they decided to only add two Detroit Red Wings prospects for this year’s tournament.

Theodore Niederbach was a 2nd round pick, 51st overall in the 2020 draft.  Niederbach will return and play in his second and final WJC-20 tournament.  Last year, Niederbach scored two goals in five games for Team Sweden in these championships.  He will be counted on to once again provide offense for Sweden.  Going into this year’s tournament, Niederbach has played 28 games for Frolunda (SHL) and recorded two goals and six points with a +1 rating.

Simon Edvinsson was a 1st round draft pick, 6th overall in the 2021 draft.  Edvinsson is also currently playing for Frolunda (SHL).  Going into the WJC-20 tournament, Edvinsson has played 24 games for Frolunda and has recorded one goal, 12 points and a +4 rating.  At 18, Edvinsson has one more year of eligibility to represent Sweden in this tournament.
