Lucas Raymond will most likely start the season in the AHL playing with Grand Rapids.  This will give Raymond valuable experience playing on the smaller North American ice surface.  Playing in the AHL will also give the Swedish coaching staff an opportunity to see if Raymond should be invited to play in the Olympics.

For the last three years, Raymond has represented Sweden in World Championships.  In 2018-19, Raymond scored seven points in six games at the WHC-17.  Sweden won a Bronze Medal and Raymond was selected to the All-Star Team.

Later that year at the WJC-18, Raymond scored eight points in seven games leading Sweden to a Gold Medal.

In 2020 and 2021, Raymond played at the World Junior Championships.  In 12 games, Raymond scored nine points.  In the 2020 tournament, Sweden won a WJC Bronze Medal.

Jonatan Berggren may be a longshot to play for Sweden in the Olympics, but he has played for Sweden at every level of amateur World Championships.  He will most likely start his North American career in the AHL in Grand Rapids.  If he has a terrific start to his AHL season, expect Berggren to get some consideration for the Olympic team.

In 2016-17, Berggren played for Sweden in the WHC-17.  He scored two goals and three points in six games on the way to Sweden’s Gold Medal victory.

In 2017-18, Berggren played at the WJC-18 where he placed 4th in tournament scoring with 10 points in seven games.  Sweden won a Bronze Medal at this tournament.

In 2020, Sweden won a World Junior Bronze Medal.  In this tournament, Berggren scored five points in seven games.
