Ottawa Senators
The Ottawa Senators are loaded with young prospects. The team is also over $7.2 million under the cap floor. Ottawa currently needs to add two players to their active roster. Trading Larkin to Ottawa for prospects will help Ottawa get closer to the cap.
A good player that Detroit could add to the re-build is Logan Brown. Brown is a 23 year old center who is currently a RFA. He has played 30 regular season NHL games and has recorded eight points. In 94 regular season AHL games, Brown has 23 goals and 79 points. In order for Brown to be sent to the minors, he would have to pass through waivers this year.
If Detroit can’t pry Brown from the Senators, another player they could ask for is Alex Formenton. Formenton is also 23 and has played 30 NHL games and collected seven regular season points. Formenton has one more year of waiver exemption so he can be sent to the AHL without having to go through waivers.
Detroit would need either a draft choice or another prospect in the deal.
Reality: Larkin is not traded to Ottawa
