Manny Legace was an 8th round draft pick of the Hartford Whalers in 1993.  I watched Legace play many games during his three seasons in the OHL playing for Niagara Falls.  In 1992-93, Legace won a Gold Medal backstopping Canada to a World Junior Championship.  He also earned the Top Goaltender Award at that tournament.

Legace was acquired by Detroit as a free agent signing in 1999.  He played parts of six seasons with the Red Wings.  Legace was the backup goaltender when Detroit won the Stanley Cup in 2001-02.  Legace’s best season occurred  in 2005-06 when he had a 37-8-3 record playing for Detroit.

He represented St. Louis in the NHL All-Star game in 2007-08 when he played 66 games for the Blues.  In 12 NHL seasons, Legace had a 187-99-41 record and 24 shutouts while playing for four teams.  Today, Legace is entering his 4th season as the Goaltending Coach for the Columbus Blue Jackets.
