Dominik Hasek was one of the greatest goaltenders to ever play in the NHL. Detroit was fortunate to have Hasek on the team twice during his illustrious career. He was originally drafted by Chicago in 1983. He played parts of two seasons with Chicago before being traded to Buffalo. In 2001, after nine seasons in Buffalo, Hasek was traded to Detroit for Vyacheslav Kozlov, a 2002 1st round draft choice, and future considerations.
Detroit promptly won the Stanley Cup as Hasek went 41-15-8 during the regular season and 16-7-0 during the playoffs. After two seasons, Hasek moved to Ottawa for one season and went 28-10-4 for the Senators. He once again signed with Detroit and played two more seasons winning one more Stanley Cup with the Red Wings in 2007-08.
At the age of 43 and after 16 NHL seasons, Hasek retired from the NHL after the Stanley Cup victory. Hasek finished his NHL career with a record of 389-223-95, a 2.20 GAA, a .922 SV% and 81 shutouts. Hasek was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame and IIHF Hall of Fame in 2014-15.
