Ben Bishop – 2 Years, $3.5 Million (Cap Hit Per Year)

It was a bit tough to find an especially bad contract on the Stars; most of their albatross contracts are tied up to players in their core (Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn, Etc.). The worst out of a pool of decent contracts is one of their goaltenders.

Bishop is the easy answer for moving a contract, as he was injured the entire 2020-21 season. He’s great when he’s available, but attempting a playoff push with an injury-prone goaltender is a risky move. With no real pressing need to free up space, moving Bishop would only make sense if the Stars are dead-set on a run for the 2021-22 season.
