Red Wings: Getting to know Dylan Larkin
Kicking off our “Getting to know your Red Wings” series with forward Dylan Larkin. Learn more about the Michigan native here.
We are all human, after all.
When the Detroit Red Wings skate on the ice, you see players in a red or white uniform (depending on the location) with the winged wheel on the front and a helmet covering their head.
You might know what each player looks like, but do you really know each player? Us here at FanSided Octopus Thrower are doing a series of “Getting to know your Red Wings,” to uncover parts of players you may not know while we wait for hockey to resume.
First up, Dylan Larkin, aka “D-Boss” from the viral YouTube video of him “snipin’ tendies” in his basement as a youngster.
The Waterford Township native has had the opportunity to play for his home state since being a kid, playing for Belle Tire, the University of Michigan, Grand Rapids Griffins and those Red Wings, among other teams throughout his hockey career.

What you might not know is that you have the same birthday as him! Maybe. It’s July 30, so be ready to wish him happy birthday next month!
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Larkin did what many of you have likely thought about doing if you didn’t have a pet already, and that’s adopt or buy one. At the beginning of the stay at home order, Larkin got Ellie. You can see more of her here.
Sadly for the ladies, the future captain of the team already has a girlfriend, Kenzy Wolfe. And this is right about when you fall into a thirst trap of endless social media scrolling either being envious of Larkin, absolutely admiring Wolfe’s fashion sense or both.
Larkin isn’t the only athlete in the family, either. His cousins Adam and Ryan play hockey, and his brother Colin Larkin signed an entry-level contract with the Edmonton Oilers. He last played for the ECHL’s Wichita Thunder, scoring two goals and tallying 14 assists in 2018-19.
