The Detroit Red Wings played by far their best game of the season beating up the Arizona Coyotes tonight at Little Ceasars Arena.

It was a 6-1 victory tonight for the Wings over the Coyotes.  Backed by an absolutely staggering offensive outburst, the Detroit Red Wings have climbed back to 500.  I would have never guessed the Wings had this type of streak in them.  They started the season off so badly often searching for wins.

It was the fourth consecutive game the Wings scored at least 3 goals.  It was Jimmy Howard‘s fifth consecutive win.  The Detroit Red Wings now have a record of 8-8-2 on the season.  It was as good as it gets for the team.  They could coast to the finish line rather than chasing and pressing to come from behind.

The Wings have won 7 of their last 8 contests.  Tonight is one of those rare occurrences that it is much easier for me to tell you who didn’t record a point tonight rather than everyone who did.  Nyquist, Megan, Kronwall, Daley, and Frk were the only Detroit Red Wings skaters unable to register a point.

The Detroit Red Wings flipped the script tonight in the first period.  Unlike the previous three victories where the team found themselves falling behind by a couple of goals. Tonight the Wings jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period.  It would only be the beginning of the goal assault the Wings would produce tonight.

The home crowd was able to celebrate early and often as the Detroit Red Wings would net 6 goals in total.  Anthony Mantha started the scoring off with one of those wicked wristers he loves to fire on target.  He remains sizzling hot after his 2 goal outburst a game ago.

The kids would join in on the fun chipping in with a pair of their own back to back goals. Dennis Cholowski scored his third goal of the season.  He scored from the top of the right circle.  Justin Abdelkader was providing a screen in front and appeared to be in the crease.  The goal would be reviewed and would stand.

Michael Rasmussen would follow with a power-play marker shortly after.  It was Rasmussen’s third goal of the season as well; all his have been with the man advantage.

During the second period, Luke Glendening found himself on a breakaway from center ice as a Red Wing penalty was set to expire.  He beat Kuemper to make it 4-0 at the time.  Andreas Athanasiou would join in on the breakaway fun with one of his own.  AA was exiting the sin bin and was the beneficiary of a Darren Helm pass, springing the speedy forward in all alone.  AA did not miss.  He has recorded 2 points in each of his last 3 games since returning from a handful of games off due to a lower-body injury.

Mike Green had a monster game tonight.  He played over 20 minutes and recorded 1 goal and 2 assists.  The Detroit Red Wings are 7-2 since Greener has returned from his early season liver virus that had him sidelined for the first few weeks.  Green plays against the opponents’ top line each and every night.  He isn’t a “sound” defender in his own end, but he has improved that area of his game since he has been a member of the Wings.

The Detroit Red Wings scored 6 goals on 26 shots.  That is impressive on its own, but even more so, they have scored 30 goals over their last 8 games.
