The Detroit Red Wings roll into Anaheim tonight seeking their first win of the season at the expense of the Ducks.
The Detroit Red Wings will search for win number one tonight against the Anaheim Ducks. The Wings lost late last night to the L.A Kings 4-2 with L.A finding the empty net. The young group played well and for the most part, carried the pace of play.
The Wings look like they may have lost Trevor Daley for the short-term. Daley became tangled up in the neutral zone with Kings forward Jaret Anderson-Dolan. Anderson-Dolan fell over top of Daley, in doing so he appeared to knee Daley in the back of the head. Daley needed assistance off the ice and would not return.
Look for Dennis Cholowski to continue to excel. The kid has played exceptionally well through the first two games of his young career. Cholowski scored in his first game and added two assists in his second. I was wondering how he would hold up physically against a “heavy” Western Conference team.

The Kings, similar to the Ducks like to play a physical game, and the type of play did not faze Cholowski last night. He stood up to the physical Kings forwards and played very well. He will have another physical test this evening.
The Ducks are banged up; pest Corey Perry is out for an extended period of time recovering from knee surgery. The Wings may benefit from not having to face Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf. Getzlaf is questionable with a lower-body injury. Patrick Eaves is working to finally return to the Ducks lineup. Eaves has recently been battling a severe virus. The virus comes as a relief.
Per Sportsnet.ca; He was initially diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome. GBS is when the immune system attacks the peripheral nervous system and could lead to death. Thankfully Eaves was misdiagnosed. He would have post-viral syndrome but is nearing an NHL return.
The Wings will see another familiar face in the lineup. Ben Street who led the Grand Rapids Griffins in scoring last season has been skating on the Ducks fourth line to start the season.
Cam Fowler leads a group of mobile defenders for the Ducks. Fowler has yet to turn 27 years old. He has been improving his game year after year leading him to a fresh 8-year contract extension that averages 6.5 million per season.
Hampus Lindholm is another is another eye-opening young defender. Lindholm is a 24-year-old defender who is yet to hit his full potential. That is concerning if your anyone other than the Ducks because he is already a tremendous defender.
The Detroit Red Wings need to attack the Ducks third defense pairing with speed and outskate them to the spot. The Ducks second line tonight is centered by young Sam Steel, this is a match-up Nielsen, or AA need to win handily to give the Red Wings an opportunity to win tonight.
