The finish to the 2017-18 season is going better than expected as the Red Wings have put together three wins to close out the week. Goals from Dylan Larkin and Andreas Athanasiou propelled the Wings to a 2-0 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Game Timeline
It was a rather uneventful first period, the Senators had one chance come when Jimmy Howard had trouble handling a shot but the netminder was able to cover it.
Larkin gave the Red Wings the lead at the 4:10 mark of the second period. Poor defending by the Senators allowed Anthony Mantha to set up Larkin for an easy finish.
Athanasiou extended the lead to 2-0 four minutes into the third period. The forward picked up a rebound from Niklas Kronwall’s shot and fired it past Mike Condon.
In the third period, both teams got power-play opportunities but no goals were conceded by either side.
