With just four games remaining in the regular season, the Detroit Red Wings will host the Ottawa Senators on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Wings and Senators enter this game just four points apart in the Atlantic Division standings as the sunset on their seasons nears. This will be the fourth meeting of the season between these two teams, the Red Wings have won two of the three games thus far.
It has not been the best of times for either team in recent weeks. The Senators ended a six-game losing streak on Thursday night with a 3-2 shootout win over the Florida Panthers. Detroit has bounced back from a three-game losing streak this week with two big wins over Pittsburgh and Buffalo.
In their last two games, the Red Wings have scored a combined 11 goals. Dylan Larkin is closing in on the 60 point mark this season and will need just two points to do so on Saturday. The forward has four points in his last two games.
The Senators will be without leading scorer Mark Stone who has been out since March 9th. He did skate with the team on Thursday but is not expected to be featured against the Red Wings.
Erik Karlsson has been helping to lead the way offensively lately with five points in his last five games. Matt Duchene is another player to watch as he also has five points in his last five appearances.
In net, Craig Anderson has been the no.1 option. He has a 2-3 record in his last five starts. His goals against average stands at 3.28 and save percentage at .899. Backup Mike Condon has seen some playing time as of late with three appearances in the last 10 days.
Jimmy Howard has started in both of Detroit’s two wins this week.
