The Detroit Red Wings edged the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night to win their second game in three days.

Goals from Dylan Larkin and Frans Nielsen helped lead the Red Wings to victory n as Jimmy Howard had a good outing in net stopping 32 of 35 shots faced.

There were a couple of milestones reached on Tuesday as Howard moves up to seventh all-time for American-born goaltenders in the league in wins.

Olympic Hockey Update

Slovenia shocked the United States in overtime in the first game of the men’s hockey competition. Jan Mursak scored the game-winner as the former Red Wing gave his home country a massive victory.

Slovakia also came up with a big upset, they defeated the Olympic Athletes from Russia 3-2.

In the women’s competition, Switzerland edged Sweden 2-1 and Japan defeated Korea 4-1. The U.S. women’s team plays Canada at 10:10 p.m. (EST) tonight.

Seattle has filed for expansion after rumors of this happening have been circulating.

Dion Phaneuf is head to Los Angeles as the Ottawa Senators will get Marian Gaborik in exchange for the defenseman. Nate Thompson of the Senators was also dealt to the Kings with Nick Shore headed to Ottawa.
