Red Wings Take All Two Points at LCA

DETROIT, MI - OCTOBER 31: Anthony Mantha

The Detroit Red Wings returned to Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday night to defeat the Arizona Coyotes.

After a three-game road trip, the Wings played their first home game in over a week. The end result was a positive one as they picked up their second consecutive victory.

How it Happened

Two first period goals got the Red Wings off to a great start with Gustav Nyquist scoring the first goal of the game to extend his point streak to three games.

Luke Glendening scored the second goal of the period for the home side. Martin Frk and Niklas Kronwall provided the assists.

A blast from Jason Demers brought the Coyotes within one in the second period but Anthony Mantha answered shortly after with his fifth goal of the season.

Dylan Larkin would make it 4-1 with less than a minute remaining in the period to give the Wings a commanding lead heading into the final period.

The Coyotes made things interesting in the third as they pulled within one once again. Nick Cousins and Clayton Keller would both record goals to make it 4-3 late in the period.

With the Coyotes only down a goal, they had little choice but to pull Scott Wedgewood from the net and send on the extra attacker. Fortunately, for the Wings, they would be no surprises tonight as Darren Helm scored an empty-netter with a minute remaining to put the game away.
