The Detroit Red Wings find themselves on their first losing streak of the 2017-18 season as they fell to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night.
A flurry of goals in the first period put the Wings in a hole they could not get out of in the remaining two periods. Despite a comeback bid, the final score was 6-3 with the Maple Leafs continuing their impressive start to their season.
How it Happened
Two quick goals gave the Leafs a 2-0 advantage just six minutes into the game. Nazem Kadri and Zach Hyman recorded the tallies for the home side.

Before the first intermission the Leafs would add two more goals as Auston Matthews and Connor Brown would score 40 seconds apart to make it 4-1.
The Red Wings would make things interesting in the second period as they came within one goal of tying the game. Tomas Tatar would light the lamp first for the away side, which saw him reach 100 career goals.
Jonathan Ericsson recorded his first goal of the season after a booth review determined there was no goaltender interference on Justin Abdelkader.
A blast from Morgan Rielly put the Leafs back on top by two goals at the second intermission and William Nylander added an empty-net goal in the third to make it 6-3.
