A third-period comeback allowed the Chicago Blackhawks to take a 4-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

How it Happened

As it was in the first game, the Red Wings found themselves conceding the first goal. The Blackhawks Michael Cramarossa skated in and fired one past Kaden Fulcher at 10:53 of the first period.

The second period proved to be much better for the Wings as they would score three goals throughout the course of the period.

It all started with a beautiful individual effort by Dylan Sadowy to tie the game up. The forward skated in and slipped past two Hawks players before putting it past the goaltender. Dominik Shine and Vili Saarijarvi recorded the assists.

Lane Zablocki put the Red Wings ahead just under 10 minutes after Sadowy’s goal. The forward fired home a well-placed pass from Dominic Turgeon.

Following a Blackhawks game-tying goal from Darren Raddysh, 2016 first-round pick Dennis Cholowski would get himself on the score sheet. The defenseman threw a puck at the net and it deflected off the goalie and in.

There were some fisticuffs near the end of the second period as Sadowy would drop the gloves with Alex Debrincat.

DeBeincat would show up again the third period as he netted what proved to be the game-winning goal. The forward slotted home a well-placed shot into the corner of the net.

Carl Dahlström had tied the game earlier in the period for Blackhawks.

Game Notes

  • Fulcher went the distance in net for the Wings. He would stop 34 of the 38 shots he faced.
  • Sadowy led all skaters with five shots.
  • Shine recorded a point for the second straight game and his third of the tournament.
  • The Wings were outshot by the Blackhawks 38 to 26.
