NHL Prospects Tournament: Preview and How to Watch

The National Hockey League Prospects Tournament will descend on Traverse City, Michigan for five days.

Beginning on Friday, eight NHL teams will participate in the prospects tournament at Centre Ice Arena. The event will run through Tuesday as some of the best young players in the game will take the ice.

The competition will see each team play three games against teams in their respective group. There are two groups which are named the Gordie Howe Division and the Ted Lindsay Division.

Here’s how the eight teams are split up.

Gordie Howe Division 

  • Carolina Hurricanes
  • Chicago Blackhawks
  • Detroit Red Wings
  • New York Rangers

Ted Lindsay Division 

  • Columbus Blue Jackets
  • Dallas Stars
  • Minnesota Wild
  • St. Louis Blues

Here’s the Red Wings schedule.

  • Friday, Sept. 8 vs. Carolina Hurricanes-7:30
  • Saturday, Sept. 9 vs. Chicago Blackhawks-4:00
  • Monday, Sept 11. vs. New York Rangers-7:00
  • Tuesday, Sept. 12 vs. TBD-TBD

On Tuesday, Sept. 12 the tournament will finish with a set of four games that will finish with the championship game in the evening.

As far as the Red Wings are concerned, they will have a talented roster which includes their first-round draft picks from the 2015, 2016, and 2017 NHL Draft.
